Not Your Fairytale Ending by ~vertigoevie:iconvertigoevie:

Once upon a time, there was a fair maiden born of noble blood. One dark, foggy night, she disappeared without a trace. An evil witch had taken her, in attempt to restore her former beauty and youth. The maiden was locked in tall, lonesome tower waiting for someone to come and sweep her off her feet. Oh right, you’re wondering where Prince Charming on his noble steed was. Did he get lost in the blistering desert? Or maybe caught in the rapids? What’s a fairytale without a prince? Stupid me… I’m extremely glad to say that there was no prince to sweep the maiden off her feet and spirit her away to a fantastical kingdom. No, the maiden died after the witch got what she wanted. What happened to the witch? Well, she destroyed the kingdom that maiden came from. You’ve probably figured by now that there’s not going to be any “happily ever after.” Why? Well, for one thing, “happily ever after” isn’t a phrase used lightly in reality. But this story… has nothing to do with fairytales…

Or maybe, it has everything to do with it…

Thalia was sitting in her dressing room, admiring herself in the mirror. She was a superficial girl of 16 who had already starred in several high box office movies. One month ago, her 3rd solo album had peaked as the top selling album in America for two weeks. Her new single that was just released this morning was already a top seller in the stores and iTunes. She sighed and looked in the mirror. “Aren’t I great?” All the philanthropy that she did was all for the media. Not like she actually cared about anything else other than herself, and maybe her boyfriend, who just happened to knock on the door at that moment. He came in and gave her a small kiss. “I love you…” she whispered.

“Me too…” he said back.

Thalia went on stage and laughed mentally at the screaming crowd. Wannabes, she sighed and rallied up the audience for a “night you’ll never forget.” She went on to sing her new single and other songs for her most recent album. At the end of the concert, she started to introduce the new project that she was representing. “There are so many things that we take for granted,” she said into the microphone when the crowd had silenced. “But there’re a lot of kids out there who don’t even have half of what we have. This new project that I was invited to represent helps kids all around the world receive clothing, education and most of nutrition. I’m just so excited to host-”

Suddenly, a gunshot rang out. The microphone from the teen star clanked onto the ground. The earsplitting frequency rang out through the entire auditorium until the sound crew shut off the system. Thalia’s band rushed over to her as she started to fall backwards. Blood was pouring out of her back. The last thing she saw was her boyfriend, barely behind the curtain, grinning guiltily at her and hiding the gun.

Dark and lovely.

I like how you tied the fairy tale beginning to the ending. You made it come full circle.
